Natures, they are something that change your Pokemons stats and what kind of Pofin it will eat. This could be critical in Pokemon battles.
Natures give you a 10% increase and a 10% decrease to a stat. Some natures though, that don't increase or decrease a stat. They give the 10% increase and the 10% decrease to the same stat.
The next step is to chose what nature is good for your Pokemon and moveset. So lets use Alakazam for an exaple. He has a massive Sp.Att, bad Attack and average Speed. So you want a nature that raises yyour Sp.Att or Speed. But you don't want to lose your defences though. Since you don't have any Physical Attacks (well, you shouldn't) in your moveset, you don't need your Attack stat. So, you would chose a nature that ups Sp.Att or Speed. Now, looking at your stats, your Sp.Att is massive but your Speed is quite lowish. So you would chose a nature that ups Speed and lowers Attack.
